From Hiroshima to Laikipia With Love

Every so often, we at Ol Pejeta get an email from a supporter that just melts our hearts. Whether it's donating in memory of someone, giving a talk to raise awareness about rhino conservation, or organising a fundraising event; it is always especially touching when these things happen in a country very far away, and different, from Kenya.

Recently, we received one of these emails. It was from Olga, who visited Ol Pejeta in June 2016 to research an animated movie she wanted to make about the northern white rhinos. The movie is still in the editing process (we can't wait to see it) but Olga has been inspired to make rhino jumpers, badges and other trinkets to sell in Japan in order to raise money for Ol Pejeta. She emailed us to tell us how she celebrated World Rhino Day on the 22nd September.

"I just wanted to say that I am in love with Ol Pejeta and people who are working there" she writes. "I had an amazing time with northern white rhinos and rangers, especially with Zacharia, Joseph and James. They helped me very much and shared a lot of information about rhinos. My wish to help your conservancy. On the World Rhino Day, together with my husband, we organised a small event with concert and market in Hiroshima, Japan. We raised 323 dollars, which I have donated to Ol Pejeta today. We will be very happy if this money can make a little change and help to protect your rhinos. I plan to continue making rhino goods and support you with money I earn from them. We also hope to visit you again next year! Thank you so much for what you do!"

Way to go Olga - from Japan to Kenya, we feel the love!
